Frequently Asked Questions

Are the games always in the same gym?

No. We try and offer 4-5 Home games and 3-4 Away games. Teams will be traveling to play you, it’s only fair for you to travel to play them. With that being said, we would never send a team from Lynnwood to play in Federal Way.

Can I play without owning a Credit Card?

Yes, but PSBL requires you to pre-pay 7 days in advance. There are 2 ways to do this: 1. Mail us a check, or a Money Order to: PSBL, 3817 24th Ave. W, Seattle, WA 98199, 2. Pay at one of our gyms on Sun, Mon., or Wed. Check the schedule for a particular date and please pay the “Lead Official” at the gym.

Can my TEAM request a certain time to play?

Yes, for an extra $50, PSBL will guarantee your games will occur within a certain 4-5 hour time window: 12–5pm or 5-9pm.

Do we need jerseys?

Yes.  Same color, same material, and a number.  We sell jerseys at cost (made by iron – a clothing company affiliated with PSBL) in sets of 9. $165 for Reversible Dri-fit/ Mesh. These are easily valued at $40 each. They’re pretty nice.

Do you have an over 40 League?

PSBL’s philosophy is to judge players not by their age, but by their skill level. Example: We had a team of late 40 year old men last year that beat the tar out of early 20’s players. It was pretty cool actually. This is why we assess scores on a weekly basis and place teams in divisions based on their skill levels and not their age.

How do playoffs work?

All teams will play 1 doubleheader sometime throughout the session(back to back games). Additionally, Teams must go undefeated or lose just 1 game before the last week of the session. If this occurs a Teams last game of the session becomes a “Championship Game” or “Bowl Game”. If the team wins this last Championship/ Bowl game, then they are crowned division champions and qualify for T-shirts, etc. (See also League Champions.)

How do you determine the League Champion?

Men’s League: The top 8 teams in PSBL play in our “Best of the Best” tournament every Session. The top 4 Teams that receive the most Rank Points in PSBL’s weekly TEAM RANKING’s section automatically qualify. The remaining 4 teams are selected at-large by PSBL Directors, and officials. During the “Best of the Best”, each team plays a doubleheader. The 2 teams that win both games play in PSBL’s “League Championship Game” at no cost on a future date. Women’s League: The top 2 teams in the League play in PSBL’s “Women’s Final 4” tournament every Session. The top 2 Teams that receive the most Rank Points in PSBL’s weekly TEAM RANKING’s section automatically qualify. The remaining 2 teams are selected at-large by PSBL Directors, and officials. During the “Women’s Final 4”, each team plays a doubleheader. The team that wins both games wins PSBL’s Women’s Championship. See also, “How do playoffs work?”

Co-Ed League: The top 2 teams in the League play in PSBL’s “Co-Ed Final 4” tournament every Session. How long are games?

Two, 25 minute running clock halves.  The clock stops the last 2 minutes of the 2nd half only if the score is within 7 pts. at the 2:00 mark.  The clock does not stop for time-outs. (There is 1 timeout a half per team. No carryover.)

How many games are there in a Session?

8 -10 games over 7 – 9 weeks depending on the league. Your team will have one doubleheader mixed throughout the Session. This counts as your playoff game.

How many teams are there?

Currently we have about 110 teams.  We expect this number to double during 2005 -2006.  We are already the largest League in the State of Washington.
